Notice

Dear Members,

Hope you go through the circular of the Local Secretary at Kakatiya University, Warangal.
Before submitting your papers to be presented at the session please bear the following points in mind.

1. Every copy of the paper submitted for Presentation at the 82nd session of the IHC should bear following details at the top of the first page:
I. Full names of the author/authors
II. Membership number
III. E-mail ID
IV. Place of work/residence
V. Section at which the member wishes to present the paper

2. Members are requested to only submit their papers ONLINE to the Secretary .

Note: Papers received after the expiry of date cannot be included in the List of Papers of the session. Papers received till 30th November, 2023 will get precedence and be accommodated on the first two days of the session.
Papers received after the 30th November, 2023 will be listed separately in the Supplementary List and will only be accommodated, time permitting, on the last day. More than one paper by a member would not be admissible in the same Section.

3. The following additional points should be borne in mind, while submitting papers:
a. Papers must be written in English, must be word-processed and double-spaced. The paper should be sent only in the WORD file. Please do not send the soft copy of the paper in PDF format.
b. Word limit: 3500 words (including endnotes). Any paper exceeding this limit will not be eligible for inclusion in the Proceedings.
c. Reference should be double-spaced and put at the end of the paper, and numbered continuously through the whole paper (not per page).
d. In references to printed books, the conventional system should be used: Name of the author, Title of the book, Publisher, and the Place and Year of publication, in that order. Well-known abbreviations for journals, e.g., JIH, JASB, JRAS, EI, IHR, IESHR, JESHO,should be used without further explanation of the abbreviation. Use of forms like 'ibid.','op.cit.', is recommended for saying space.
e. Transliteration should be uniform and according to any one of the standard systems. Diacritical marks are essential for papers submitted to Sections I and II.
f. If maps, diagrams, and photographs are furnished, these should be limited in number, and be in such form as to be ready for printing.
g. A HARD COPY of the paper must be submitted by the member at the time of the presentation to the President of the section.

Founded in 1935, the Indian History Congress(IHC) is the largest association of professional historians in South Asia. It has about 35000 members of which over 2000 delegates participate in its session every year. It has been holding its sessions very regularly from its inception and publishing its proceedings every year since 1935. Its main objective is to promote secular and scientific writing of history.

From the Secretary's Desk

The preparations for the historic 80th Session of the IHC are underway, and I look forward to meeting all members at Kannur, Kerala, between 28th and 30th December, 2019. Prof. Ravindran Gopinath, Vice-Chancellor of Kannur University, which will be hosting the Session, has appointed Dr. P. Mohandas as the Local Secretary. Details regarding payment of delegate fee have been intimated by Dr. Mohandas in his Circular dated 15/10/2019. The same is available on our website, and may be downloaded from here Local Secretary's Circular. You will also be receiving my second circular by the end of the month. Do renew your annual membership fees by 30th October, 2019. The facility of online payment has been initiated only for Annual Membership renewal. Please also remember to send in your papers by 30th November, 2019. We have a galaxy of eminent scholars who will be attending, and various special events planned. The significance of the IHC for the fraternity of historians is well-known, and so do ensure that you make your travel arrangements well in advance, so that you can also participate and enrich the annual session. We are starting a members' corner, where your books and awards will be displayed. Please send details in this regard to secretary.ihc.2018@gmail.com.
