Dear Members,

Most of you who are members of the Indian History Congress will be reaching the campus of the Punjabi University, Patiala by the evening of 27th December 2024. Some others will reach on the morning of 28th when our 83rd Session commences. Remember to check our website before you start your journey, for this time (God willing & fingers crossed!) we intend to get Hotels / Rooms allotted to you in time so that you may proceed straight to the assigned destination and not waste time standing in intense cold figuring out where you have to go!

Remember also to bring along the best of your warm clothes: it is extremely cold in late December at Patiala! Even a week back when I visited the place, it was intensely cold. Bring over coats, mufflers, caps, warm clothing and even thick socks! If you think cold affects you much, bring some extra shawls etc too! Also remember that usually the weather would not only be freezing but foggy as well! Bedding is being provided (along with hot water) to those staying in the hostels. The extra shawl you bring will protect you further.

I am assured by the Local Secretary, Professor Muhammad Idris, that there will be enough volunteers to guide you. Some at the Bus Stands, some at the Railway Station, and some at the venue itself. If you arrive late in the evening, the volunteers will take you straight to the place allotted to you as accommodation. In hotels, you will be two to a room.

Morning tea will be served at the place of your stay, while all meals (including Breakfast) will be in the Food Pandal on the University Campus. The hotels can of course provide you with whatever you want to buy. Breakfast will be served 7:30 am onwards till 9:30 am when the sessions start.

Those staying in hotels, buses will be available after Dinner near Food Pandal. If you have to visit your hotel during the day, or before dinner, hire a vehicle which will be easily available outside the University Gate.
