Professor Gautam Sengupta, an esteemed academician, has served as a Professor in the Department of Ancient Indian History and Culture & Archaeology at Visva Bharati, Santiniketan. Additionally, he held the esteemed position of Director-General at the Archaeological Survey of India from 2010 to 2013. Professor Sengupta’s contributions extend to his roles as the Director of Archaeology and Museums, as well as the Member Secretary of the Centre for Archaeological Studies and Training in Eastern India. Notably, in 1995, he served as the Sectional President of the Archaeology session at the Indian History Congress.
