Professor Sebastian Joseph

Sectional President of Contemporary India

Professor Sebastian Joseph teaches at Union Christian College Aluva, Kerala. His research interests primarily focus on forest history, which he pursued during his M.Phil and Ph.D. studies. Recently, he published his monograph titled, Cochin Forests and the British Techno-ecological Imperialism in India (Primus, 2016). In recognition of his academic contributions, he was awarded the Charles Wallace India Trust Award in 2012 by the British Council, London. Professor Joseph has also served as the editor of the college journal, Discourses, and the proceedings journal of the UGC National Seminar on Environmental History: Issues in Prudence and Profligacy. He has provided guidance for courses on Environmental History in various colleges and universities. Currently, he serves as the coordinator of the open course programme in Environmental History.
